Belly Fat
Many people worry about being overweight and feel they are unhealthy because of extra pounds.
But being overweight isn't the biggest concern. The potential problems come from belly fat.The fat that gathers around the belly, waist, hips, and upper thighs can lead to serious health problems.
When these areas develop fat, it is just as dangerous as cancer.
So instead of worrying about extra pounds, you should be looking at the size of your waist.
The Lie
The companies that would like to sell you expensive pills to reduce belly fat, claim that it is stress that produces it.
The truth is, it is the other way around.
The Dangers Of Belly Fat
Belly fat is the yellow fat that accumulates under the muscle instead of on top.
Because it is closer than the other fats to the liver and other organs it is the one most utilized.
Surface fat has a delayed reaction and is fed to your organs a little bit at a time, but belly fat is fed continuously.
Belly fat keeps the liver heated up, causing inflammation. Inflammation causes toxins in your body that is distributed in your blood to your entire body.
These fats also cause autoimmune diseases (This is when your own immune system attacks you the way it does an invading organism). Real invaders such as cancer cells are overlooked, increasing your chance of developing cancer.
The walls of the heart and lungs thicken resulting in heart and lung failure. The elastin in your Aorta is damaged, causing it to be stiff and brittle. The blood pressure, and blood sugar is raised. Levels of cholesterol become high because the lipoprotein (HDL) can no longer remove it. Life threatening blood clots begin to form.
Skin ages at a high rate making you look much older than you are, and lives are cut short by ten or more years. Some people die at a very young age.
The list goes on and on.
The Cause Of Belly Fat
In the 1980s an experiment was done to see if food and drink could be preserved longer by infusing it with partially hydrogenated fats resulting in trans fats.
Partially hydrogenated fats are man made and do not exist in nature
Fats are processed by bubbling hydrogen gas through them at high temperatures, they become partially hydrogenated which changes their structure to the "trans" form
When consumed, these fats are incorporated into cell membranes altering their composition. . When they interact with normal fat metabolism, they act as poisons killing important enzymes and disturb function in a very harmful way.
Today, more companies than not, are still using partially hydrogenated fats. These fats are not easily broken down (It takes 66 more days to break down these fats than it does naturally occurring fats) and are stored under the muscles around the middle of the body.
Even foods that say 0 Trans Fats, may have partially hydrogenated fats listed under ingredients. This is a trick to get you to buy the product. It doesn't matter what they claim, as long as the fats are listed someplace on the package, it's legal.
The Solution
The only way to get rid of belly fat, is to stop consuming food that contains these fats, and work to rid the body of the fat that is already there.
Exercise
After stopping the consumption of all trans fats, it will take some work to rid yourself of the already established belly fat.
Don't just let the body break it down. The faster it leaves your body, the more hope you have to stop and even reverse further damage to your system.
Walking
Buy a meter that counts the number of steps you take.
You should take 10,000 steps per day.
Muscle Building
You can't turn fat into muscle, but the bigger your muscles are, the more fat you can burn. Muscle is built by weight training. If you can't make it to the gym, at least buy some barbells or dumbbells, for home use. Purchase a video or book to learn about weight lifting.
If you have an injury to your spine please ask your doctor before using weights.
Endurance
Do endurance training. I suggest a video or book to learn more.
Ideal Size Of The Waist
A woman's waist should be 32 inches and less. 25-30 is idea
For a man it is 35 inches and less.
How To Determine The Maximum Waist Size For You
Find how tall you are in inches and half it
Example: for a person who is 5ft 2
5 ft. 2 inches is 62 inches so the waist should be 31 inches or less, to keep you out of danger
5 ft 2
5X12=60 + 2 inches=62 inches divided by 2 (half) is 31
Of course if you use a measuring tape you wont have to figure it out
How to measure your waist
Measuring your waist for belly fat is different than measuring to determine your body shape.
Because your muscles may be out of shape along with having belly fat, you should pull in your stomach as much as possible
Wrap the tape around the navel area to measure
Foods That Contain Trans Fats
- Cakes, cookies, muffins, pies, donuts
- Crackers
- Cake mixes, biscuit and pancake mixes,
- Cake Icing
- Peanut butter
- Frozen dinners
- Frozen meal entrees
- Frozen bakery products, toaster pastries, waffles, pancakes
- Most prepared frozen meats and fish (such as fish sticks)
French fries - Whipped toppings
- Margarine, shortening
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Taco shells
- Cocoa mix
- Microwave popcorn
Check The Labels/Ingredients of these foods
- Breakfast cereals
- Coffee Creamers
- Corn chips, potato chips
- Frozen pizza, frozen burritos, most frozen snack foods
- Noodle soup cups
- Bread
- Pasta mixes
- Sauce mixes
- Low-fat ice creams

I like to add some thing to Deborah's post titled "Belly Fat:The Cause, The Dangers, And The Solutions"
One solution is to take Public transport in lieu of private transport and today , living 13000 Miles away from Debora I did this before I can write these lines
Of course I love my little compact car in which I enjoy all the comforts of private transport Hmm driving and listening to Ella Fitzgerald or Beatles and stop where I wish and of course that status symbol [which is total cosmetic ] But consider the cons
1 Driving means I burn calories
2 Driving increases fat in butts and stomach
3 Driving means I am contributing to pollution
4Driving means I am using 3 empty seats [most of time ] which can transport have-nots
By taking public transport
I walked to the bus stop
I burned less calorie whilst reaching my destinations
I shared a connection with public
I saved money
No parking hassles and driving stress in traffic jams
AND NO INCREASE IN BUTT AND STOMACH
I should use more public transport
